Staff Selection Commission has conducted Combined Higher Secondary level (CHSL) examination every year. Selection has done by three stages -
TIER 1) Computer based written examination in which questions are asked from
1) General Intelligence
2) English Language
3) Quantitative Aptitude
4) General Awareness
TIER II): It is a pen and paper mode written examination of 100 marks on descriptive paper which include essay writing and letter writing.
TIER III): Tier III exam would be continue to be the skill test/typing test which could be qualifying nature.
Preparation tips for Tier-I
To start with you must believe in yourself that you can crack the exam. The test is designed from the syllabus of class 12, that is why the level of difficulty could be best suited such age group. Do not afraid of having a very tough paper.
General Intelligence Paper: It is very scoring section of CHSL and with a lot of practice you can score very well in this paper. Some tips are-
I) Clear your concept on Analogy, Social Intelligence, Word building and Blood relations etc.
ii) Take note of positions and directions.
iii) Solve questions from previous year question paper.
English Language: English language carries total 50 marks for 25 questions. At first you have to improve your grammar and vocabulary skill. Some tips are-
i) Know the grammar rules and its usages.
ii) Practice Idioms, phrases and study comprehension passages in details.
iii) Stud English newspaper daily and magazines for improve your skills.
iv) Learn tricks to find errors in a sentence.
Quantitative Aptitude: Often students are scared of facing maths and math related queries. You need not to take stress if you are carefully practice the math. Some tips are-
i) You need to memorize all the formulas.
ii) Practice the whole number, decimals, relationships, percentage, profit and loss, ratio and proportion as per syllabus.
iii) Candidate should try to learn the tricks in order to save time for other questions.
iv) Try to learn the short form of maths.
Tips for General Awareness Paper:
This section is easier than all the section. Just you have to update on daily news on various events, political events, sports etc.
i) Study and analyze the syllabus three to four times. Study the recent events on English newspaper like The Indian Express, The Hindu. Study at least one magazine like Chronicle, Frontline etc.
ii) Study NCERT books of history, geography.
iii) Read books on GK, Environmental science 10+2 standards.
iv) Develop your knowledge on constitution, economics.
General tips for CHSL 2016:
1) Know the syllabus: At first you should know the whole syllabus of CHSL 2016, so that you can study by a fixed routine.
2) Study as routine: Try to study at least 2 hours per subjects everyday. And fix a routine for your study time. After studying whole syllabus you should revise twice at least.
3) learn tips and trick: Memorize the formulas for maths and grammar. Learn tips so that you can solve the maths by shorten times.
4) Solve sample paper: Solve previous year question papers so that you can understand the exam pattern,
5) Give mock test: You can give mock test online for practicing more and more.
6) Take care of your health: Sleep at least 7-8 hours a day. Sufficient sleep is needed for your good health. Wish you have a good exam.
